STARTING TO SHIP
Since the last update I've been in the ER twice and sent all my helpers home until everyone in the house tests negative for COVID. Steve and Brandon are still testing positive, but Steve is feeling better and has been doing short livestreams (See below for links)! Brandon also feels better, but keeps testing positive. I'm sure you'll be thrilled to note that to prevent delays I have been starting to ship out books on my own despite headaches, nausea and taking meds that are making me exhausted.
You will receive shipping notification as your order ships. Once we are clear of COVID we will have Mike Baron in house for those of you who have the Deluxe books signed by Steve and Baron. I will also be able to have my helpers back in house to expedite shipping..

Steve has been working on this for over a year and since earlier this year exclusively between commissions which he has been completing several a day.
DRAW THE ANIMATED NEXUS - KICKSTARTER
This was scheduled to start as everything else shipped. We decided to keep the launch as funds will arrive in October which keeps Steve working on Nexus, We found a printer here in Phoenix for this book to minimize delays. THE GOOD NEWS...
All 4 books arrived to storage on Thursday so the 2021 sketchbook regular cover, alternative cover, the Gourmando Deluxe hardcover and the Limited Edition are all in house.
THE BAD NEWS...
I was out of the office August 12-19 for my brother's wedding and came home really sick. My assistant is also out with COVID. While my case is mild, a raging headache is keeping me from getting too much done.
STEVE AND COMMISSIONS...
Steve is roaring through commissions and once my assistant is back in house she will start attaching commission requests to hardcover books.
If you would like a commission we can offer them until your order is processed. With nearly 700 orders to process will get everything out as quickly as we can.
DRAW NEXUS KICKSTARTER
My illness has caused a delay with this. We are still planning to launch, hopefully within the next 2 weeks. While I would love to get all our books out the door prior to launching anything new, bills do not pay themselves, and funds will allow Steve to work on his next Nexus project, THUNEWORLD,

2021 SKETCHBOOK
This is currently in production with an estimated delivery date of August 17th for the alternative White Queen cover and August 24th for the main Wonder Woman cover. This production was extremely limited (less than half our normal print run) and we have less than 100 copies left before it will be sold out.
NEXUS: THE COMING OF GOURMANDO
I have a call into the shipper for an update (last week the vessel had not yet unloaded). This is very typical right now, and extremely frustrating as we are excited to launch our next project, How to Draw the Animated Nexus.
HOW TO DRAW THE ANIMATED NEXUS
This is a much revised version of our 2006, How to Draw Nexus, Tips and Techniques. We've added color, taken out the fundraiser sketches in the back, and added about 20 new pages of drawing tips and techniques!

GOURMANDO SHIPPING UPDATE – HARDCOVER BOOKS
Due to port overcrowding the estimated arrival into port is currently July 24th. Add another 2 weeks to get here to Arizona and that is when we can START processing orders to go out. So far the total cost of printing and shipping the book is around $75,000! We’re expecting another $6,000 minimum for shipping between postage and packaging supplies. We always buy new, heavyweight boxes and packaging materials for shipping to ensure safe delivery.
2021 STEVE RUDE SKETCHBOOK
This is being ordered now and turn around will be quick. We anticipate in house arrival around the first week in August, so it should ship the same time as Gourmando.
NEW NEXUS FOR 2022 – RETURN TO THUNEWORLD
Steve is currently working on Nexus: Return to Thuneworld which will be V2 in the Nexus Newspaper saga series. The story is nearly 100 pages long and will take approximately 3 months to pencil and another 1-2 months to ink. From start to finish, as a full time project, Nexus: Thuneworld will take Steve approximately 6-8 months to write, pencil and ink. The entire project including writing, penciling, lettering, coloring, and designers is a whopping $140,000 (an amount that changes as the page count goes up). Around $70,000 of the project cost is paying people working on the project. The smaller projects help mitigate the total cost and keep what we need for the final fundraiser at a reasonable. $50,000 of that is printing with a final $20,000 for shipping costs.
PLAN FOR KEEPING THE LIGHTS ON WHILE PRODUCING NEW NEXUS
· Commissions
· Annual sketchbook – adding more private sketchbook pages to appeal to larger audience and making it “not just another sketchbook full of pretty pictures.”
· Patreon – We’ve been trying to make this fun and new. Steve has been doing videos as he does the commissions and those are posted as exclusives. We have also been scanning the stages as he does pencils and inks for Thuneworld. That is also an exclusive. Q&As are done and posted regularly and Jessica is doing behind the scenes photos and short videos as well for exclusive content. Patreon.com/steverude
· Quarterly Kickstarters followed by IndieGoGo campaign. With industry work dried up, Steve has at least 4 projects he would like to self publish each year. The sketchbook and new Nexus first and foremost. Funds from project keep our lights on and bills paid while Steve works away at Nexus, and helps with the total cost of the Nexus Newspaper Strip.

AUGUST 2021: DRAW NEXUS TIPS AND TECHNIQUES NEW REMASTERED EDITION
We’ve removed the sketch section and are replacing it with the work Steve did on 21 Draw and 3D Total Design PLUS character designs from Gourmando and Thuneworld!
2021: STEVE RUDE UNIVERSITY WITH 21-DRAW
Back in 2017 Steve teamed up with 21-Draw to create a series of instructional videos. Unfortunately, the videos were never finished, but most of the filming was done and paid for. We were able to finally retrieve the raw footage from the video editor in 2020 and are now working with another video editor to finally complete the footage. It’s an expensive process, but we will bring you the first full lesson here with a special discount on the entire series through 21-Draw who will have exclusive access to videos 2-5 for a year. Will go to funding when the first episode is nearing completion.
NEXUS: 40th ANNIVERSARY BOOK
This is currently in the works with a designer who is finally making headway. It’s been over 5 years in the making and been through at least 5 different designers who were overwhelmed with the amount of materieal and a few who made some headway. It’s a ginormous project that is going to be one amazing book. This will go to funding when the book is completed.
STEVE RUDE: ARTIST IN MOTION REMASTERED
The original Artist in Motion book has sold out. We are reprinting it and adding 60 pages to the end plus correcting the editing errors that were missed the first time around. Will go to funding when book is complete.
